Lovely Lilacs

My mother and I visited the NJ Skyland Botanical Gardens in the springtime, and our favorite part was strolling through their rows of lilac trees. There were so many varieties of lilacs in pastels of pink, purple, and white. I spent most of my time leaning in to smell their delicate fragrance!

Lilacs are native to Eastern Europe and Asia, and have more than 1,000 varieties of lilac bushes and trees. It wasn't as sunny on the day that we visited the lilac gardens, but apparently they have the strongest fragrance on a warm, sunny afternoon when their flowers open up completely!

I always admire flowers more when they’re fragrant as well as beautiful to look at, so lilacs have become one of my new favorite flowers this year, and I’m happy that my mom likes to plant them in our home gardens as well!

Even though spring has officially come to a close, there are plenty of new flowers coming to bloom this summer (I’m not finished with flower-related blogposts yet, haha!), so in the meantime, I’ll just have to settle for these pretty pictures before I get to see the lilacs again next May!

What are some of your favorite spring flowers? Let me know in the comments below!
