Healthy Smoothie Bowl Recipe for Summer

Since the summer began, I have been using my Vitamix blender almost everyday to whip up new smoothie bowls! After trying out different ingredients and mixtures, I have now come up with my general recipe for a delicious and healthy smoothie bowl summer recipe! All of the ingredients are vegan, and the fruits and powders are full of so many antioxidants and vitamins that it’s quite a nutrient-dense meal. This recipe serves for one. Feel free to alter the ingredients to your preference!

The Ingredients:

Rolled Oats by Bakery on Main - 1 cup or more

Shelled Almonds by Sunfood - 2 tbsp

Cacao Powder by Sunfood - 2 tbsp

Hemp Seeds by Sunfood - 1/3 cup

Maqui Berry Powder by Sunfood - 2 tbsp

Green Superfood Powder by Amazing Grass - 1 scoop

Nut milk of choice - 2 cups or more (I use Silk Almond milk or Milkadamia Macadamia milk)

Almond Butter by Dastony - 1 spoonful

Maple Syrup by Field Day Organic - 1 tbsp

Lemon Drops by Sweet Leaf - 4 drops

Frozen Acai by Sambazon - 1 packet

Triple Berry Blend by Earthbound Farm - 1 cup or more

The Toppings: (add as many as you like!)

Goji Berries by Sunfood

Cacao Nibs by Navitas

Organic fruit including bananas, blackberries, and raspberries…

Directions: Blend it up!

You can blend all of the ingredients at the same time, or blend the powders or liquids first depending on what texture you want. If you want to ensure that the oats are well-blended, I would suggest blending them first with the other powders before adding any liquids or frozen fruit. Personally, I like to throw everything together and blend it since it saves time.

I use the Vitamix blender to prepare my smoothie bowls since it does an awesome job at blending the frozen fruit. After all the research that I have done on different blenders, the Vitamix is always the most recommended since it is very versatile. I definitely recommend it to anyone who is looking for a great quality blender that can whip up anything from smoothies to juices and purees!

Nutritional Value:

There are a lot of nourishing and fulfilling ingredients to be found in this smoothie bowl recipe. For example…
  • Almonds are filled with fiber, fat, protein, Vitamin E, manganese and magnesium.
  • Macadamia nuts are rich in so many minerals including iron, protein, riboflavin, zinc, copper, calcium, phosphorus, magnesium and carbohydrates like sucrose, glucose, and fructose. They have monounsaturated fats which promote weight loss.
  • Hemp seeds are 36% protein and are rich in magnesium and zinc which promote bone healthy and healthy immune function.
  • Oats are gluten-free and have anti-inflammatory benefits.

  • Maple syrup surprisingly contains over 65 antioxidants that can help prevent or delay diseases caused by free radicals. It also has high levels of zinc and manganese that boost the immune system and aid the heart.
  • Cacao powder is widely known for its cardiovascular benefits, and has large amounts of magnesium that aid in lowering high blood pressure!
  • Goji berries contain all 8 essential amino acids. They include Vitamin C, Vitamin A, iron, zinc and have a significant amount of protein as well!
  • Acai berries are rich in important B vitamins, electrolytes and trace minerals that reduce inflammation and improve energy levels.
  • Maqui berries have the highest antioxidant value of any known super fruit, including acai berries! They also contain the minerals calcium and potassium, and the vitamins A and C.

A few drops or more of this lemon oil really makes a difference in the sweetness!

As you can see, there are plenty of vitamins, minerals, and antioxidants to be gleaned from all of these fruits and grains!

It has been so rewarding to prepare my own customized smoothie bowls without having to depend on local health food stores to make them for me. As long as I keep some frozen fruit in the freezer, nut milk in the fridge, and protein powders in the pantry, I’ll always be able to blend my own smoothie bowl whenever I’m in the mood. I love the boost of energy and clarity that follows after I indulge in one, so I guarantee that you’ll feel the same result if you try my recipe!
